This top picture illustrates a view of the demonstration Food (subject format) thesaurus. The screen immediately below that illustrates the display for a fixed level records management function format classification. Multiple links may be connected, as shown in lower diagram, or single terms may be dragged from the left hand pane and dropped on a term header label, Broader Term, Narrower Term, etc, of the right hand pane. When a term is dropped, the validity of the requested link is checked, and if found to be valid, is placed alphabetically within the chosen term group. Simultaneously any required reciprocal linkages are established. Though the term header labels are shown here with their default headings these may be customised to suit specific needs. This feature is particularly important for function thesauri where the number of expansion levels may be fixed and different term group labels apply according to the current expansion level.
To connect or disconnect multiple term linkages left or right click a Broader, Narrower, Related, Use or Use for header to drop down a menu to select the action required The second screen image below illustrates this process.
